ACTIVITIES (south):Siam Park
Siam Park located in Costa Adeje (Tenerife south) is one of the great new features that opened in 2008. Aqualand Costa Adeje presents an excellent combination of leisure and entertainment. Parque Frontos :
Located in Granadilla de Abona, the Thematic Park Frontos is a sample of wine cultivation in Tenerife. The Güimar pyramids in the south of Tenerife are a complex of pyramid structures astronomically oriented to the summer and winter solstices. The park offers the visitors a chance to see these

Pueblochico:
Pueblochico is a theme park that reproduces landscapes and emblematic buildings of all the islands in 1.25 scale models. Thus reuniting within the same enclosure: history, culture, art, technology, nature and leisure in a new spectacular theme. Located in the Valle de la Orotava, with magnificent views flanked by the sea and Mt. Teide, Pueblochico has become a centre of great interest for the local population as well as a privileged meeting point for millions of visitors that come annually to the island.
Complejo Costa Martianez:
This sea water swimming pool complex, pride of Puerto de la Cruz, is one of the most admired examples of coastal transformation anywhere. A prestigious team of experts, led by the famous Lanzarote artist Cesar Manrique, carried out this work adapting traditional Canarian architecture complemented with elements from the local flora and a series of original sculptures.
Loro Parque:
The Loro Parque opened its doors in Puerto de la Cruz in 1972 and over the years it has developed into the most popular attractions known as a “must”. In the beginning the park became famous for its magnificent collection of parrots, the largest in the world. The park is now the home of a wide variety of animals covering an area of 135,000 m2, set amongst palm tree and exotic plants, reproducing their natural habitats. Thus tigers, gorillas, chimpanzees, crocodiles, pelicans, jaguars, flamingos, sea lions, koi carps, dolphins, penguins, monkeys, a giant turtle from the Galápagos Islands and of course the latest addition, four magnificent Orca whales, all inhabiting one of the worlds most interesting theme parks.
Oasis del Valle:
A traditional Canarian farmhouse in the countryside of the Orotava Valley, offering fun for the family with various wild animals, native to the Islands, camel rides etc.....
Parque del Drago:
In the Parque del Drago you can contemplate one of the oldest known trees in the world, the millennium Drago. The exact age of the Drago is a point of serious discussion amongst the scientific community. This superb tree, an emblem of Tenerife, is surrounded by a park of approximately three hectares, in which there are hundreds of endemic floral species coming from different microclimatic zones of the island, ranging from the coast up to the high mountains.
Celebrations (North):
A holiday in Tenerife offers at any time of the year many opportunities to enjoy the Canarian traditions and the more cosmopolitan cultural events. Pilgrimages, Canarian wrestling, the carnivals and gastronomic customs together with all types of contemporary cultural expressions, always open to tourism in Tenerife.
Carnival of Puerto de la Cruz:
Carnival of the tourist town of Puerto de la Cruz is one of the most important traditions of Tenerife. Every year its mocking spirit seizes visitors and neighbours, who integrate easily into the party. Masked balls, parades, galas and events such as the traditional old crock rally or the funny high heeled drag race and the election of the drag queen are the biggest events in the programme.
Easter Processions:
Also in Tenerife, one of the largest religious and cultural roots and devotion are the celebrations of Easter. The processions are followed by a multitude of faithfulls and curious onlookers, many of them tourists, who admire the great artistic category of the statues even when not involved in the religious passion that pervades the city.
Festival of the Cross:
The festival of Santa Cruz, the northern district of Los Realejos, is more the three hundred years old. Floral decoration of the crosses which flood the town with some 300 crosses decorated by the neighbours is the traditional act of the festival and the firework dispute between the two streets, Medio de Arriba and Sol, is the most popular. Each year, on the night of 3rd May the rivalry of these two streets becomes a firework festival of more than 3 hours duration and is the most spectacular in the Canary Islands.
Alfombras del Corpus: (Carpets)
The festival of Corpus Christi is one of the most deeply-rooted traditions celebrated in Tenerife. During the month of June, extensive carpets and tapestries are made with flowers and coloured sand from Mt. Teide depicting religious scenes along the route through which the Blessed Sacrament will pass.
In the town of La Laguna and especially in northern town of La Orotava, the festival has a higher profile. In La Orotava, Corpus Christi is not celebrated on the day but 8 days later. Here the carpets and tapestries are of an exceptionally high artistic merit, especially the tapestry displayed outside the town hall covering an area of nearly one thousand square meters. The Orotava carpets have achieved international fame and thousands of tourists come each year to this town to enjoy this special event:
Noche de San Juan: (Night of San Juan)
Many places in Tenerife celebrate the arrival of the summer solstice on the 23rd June with traditional bonfires. Each place has their own particularities however the celebrations take place around the bonfire under the ritual of leaving behind the bad and moving on to the good by burning old objects. Thus in Puerto de la Cruz this magical night is celebrated with bonfires and fireworks on the beach of Playa Jardin.
Pilgrimages: (Romerías)
Pilgrimages are the most typical festive processions in Tenerife and are directly related to the Saints of the catholic religion. The pilgrims in Tenerife, escorted by the village authorities, all of them dressed completely from top to toe in their traditional costumes, accompanied by richly decorated ox carts bearing local food and wine to eat on route. Between folksongs and dancing the “binge” continues through the streets, much to the pleasure of the numerous public watching the event.

Traditional Country Dances: (Bailes de Magos)
At these dances “Bailes de Magos” local people dress in their traditional costumes and enjoy music, dancing and typical Canarian food and wine. The word “Magos” is a term expressed in the Canary Islands and means peasant. Most places in Tenerife hold these open air dances and you have to wear your traditional costume to enter.

Virgen del Carmen: St. Carmen
Although the festival of the Virgen del Carmen, the patron saint of fisherman, is celebrated in various districts of Tenerife in July, it’s in Puerto de la Cruz where it is most famous. Each year, local fishermen transfer the statue of the Virgin, together with the one of San Telmo from the church to the harbour. This has become a very popular event that Puerto shares with visitors who are enjoying their holidays on the island. Once on the beach, white doves are released, then the fisherman put the statues on to one of the decorated boats ready for sailing accompanied by the music from the local brass band, and the fog horns of the other boats. When they return to the shore the festival concludes with a firework display and the Virgen del Carmen and San Telmo are returned to their sanctuary.
San Andrés: Chestnut and Pots & Pans festival
This take place on the 29th November when the locals, particularly children, gather in the Plaza de Charco dragging a collection of pots & pans, bits of washing machine etc tied up by a piece of wire with the aim to make as much noise as possible and indeed the noise is deafening. Chestnuts are roasted and local dishes and wine is available.
